Where do I start my wife is taking classes online. She is going for a computer degree. I was just tiring to find out what is a good netbook for her to have? I want to get one as a gift but I don’t know which one has a good Battery life and fast for the job she is doing. I hear some are faster then other even though they have the same chip. If you can help it will be the best ohhh most have bluetooth. Thank you everyone.

I want a laptop that is truly portable (not like the 17.5" Vaio beast I am using) but one that doesn’t compromise on features (e.g. Wifi and DVD-RW), power, battery life and build quality.
What do you recommend? My budget is £300-£400 – but willing to pay more if required.
Thanks!
Pilgrim_conrad_3: Do you work for Argos? Or is that where you bought your laptop? Go figures I guess…

I have a new asus eee netbook 10 inch screen 1005HA which boasts a battery life of 8.5 hours. The instructions are basic and say to charge the battery but don’t say how long. I charged it for 8 hours initially and it lasted only 4 hours. I then charged battery again until it showed a 100% battery full, and I have only had just under 3 hours and was warned that the battery was almost dead. Does anybody have one on these?

I have a netbook (Samsung N220 Plus) and the battery life has decreased noticeably since I first got it. I have been unplugging it from the mains, letting the battery empty itself, charging it until full and then unplugging it again. Is this the best way to preserve battery life or is it better to leave it switched on when possible? Thanks.

I am currently customizing a Dell XPS 1330 laptop which I am getting because I want a compact laptop with great battery life, performance and decent gaming ability. I got the 4 GB RAM, the NVIDIA graphics card and the 9 cell battery. However, the 9 cell battery increases laptop size as stated on the site. By how much is it increased? And will I be better off getting the 15 inch model?

I love to write, and I do it best when I can get my ideas out quickly. I want a Netbook for simple internet browsing, good features for lots of writing (a bigger keyboard, for example), good battery life and preferably somewhere around 300 dollars, but I might pay more if it’s worth it. Thanks!

I’m considering purchasing an Acer Inspire One Laptop. I’m not sure which exact model it is, but it’s the one that Walmart is selling right now in the United States. It’s a low-end machine that is really really small, light, and portable. Here are the specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Atom 1.6GHz Processor
802.11b/g Wireless LAN
10/100 Ethernet Port
120GB HDD
1GB RAM
8.9" Widescreen
Built-in Webcam
VGA Out
5-in-1 Media Card Reader
3 USB Ports
Audio Port
Microphone Port
Weight: 2.19 lbs
3 Cell battery (2 1/2 – 3 Hrs)
Price: 0.00 (without taxes)
I actually like the fact that it’s preloaded with XP instead of Vista; otherwise I would not even think about buying this. The built-in webcam & card reader is really nice; hardware I will actually use (it saves me the clutter of carrying a card reader & webcam along with me). The VGA Out will be nice since I have a 22" LCD moniter it can go into at home. I have WiFi & Ethernet at home, and WiFi at work; so this thing will be connected almost everywhere for me. 120GB is impressive to me for such a small low-budget computer, this will be really convenient since I got lots of stuff. 2 1/2 to 3 hrs battery life is good for me; that’s how much my full sized laptop was able to live. The laptop is not exactly a beauty, but it is sort of nice looking for being small and toy-like. I won’t be typing too much on it’s small keyboard anyways. Sorry if this is too long, but here my question(s):
Do you think this laptop is worth 0?
Do you think this laptop is good according to my needs?
The following questions go to people that own this laptop:
Does the Intel Atom processor run reasonably fast?
Is the screen big enough to read without squinting you eyes?
Is this computer compatible with Ubuntu Linux 8.04+?
Thanks all of you for taking the time to read all of this. If you own this model, I would really appreciate it if you left a small review on how good you think it is. Google pictures so you can give me your opinion on it’s looks. Thanks!

I am in the market for a mini laptop. I have seen many around in Best Buy. I need one with good screen quality, fast, and good amount of room. My price range would be around hmm 0 and under. Battery life too! And good wireless.
