I want to buy a laptop and i like the nc10 but when i looked up reviews for it it said it was a netbook. it has a 10“ display but i thought that would be a bit small for a laptop screen. What laptop would be good for me because i am an 11 and want a decent laptop but below £400?

there’s a great laptop from PC world but its slightly over your budget

It has 3GB of memory ( don’t get a laptop with anything lower than 2GB)
Laptop computers are somewhat larger than notebooks and will accommodate a built-in disk drive unit and; optionally, a floppy drive unit. That is, a CD ROM drive is either built into the unit or the unit has a built-in bay that will accommodate a removable CD ROM drive.
Notebook computers will allow you to attach, via cable, a CD ROM drive. ( Not always as I have one of HCL )Since the drive is not built into the unit, notebooks are smaller and lighter than laptops. Hence, a notebook is an ultra small laptop. Another way to look at it is a notebook is about the size (or a little larger than) of a real [binder] notebook. If you use note books are more harder than laptops as my laptop’s system dead twice but note book not.
Netbooks are a new form factor of laptop. They don’t have powerful processors, or a lot of memory, or a large hard drive. They are intended for very light computer tasks – mainly for accessing the internet (email, web) Some netbooks don’t even run Windows, but use a specialized version of Linux and are not intended to have you installing different software on them. Netbooks are built to be small, portable, and (relatively) cheap.
If you want a general purpose laptop, don’t get a netbook.
You should be able to find a general purpose laptop with a 14" screen for that amount of money. If games are important to you, be sure the laptop does NOT use an integrated video chip. It should have a separate video card, along with its own video memory, not shared memory.
Alternatively, ditch the laptop idea altogether and just get a desktop. You can get a decent entry level PC with a monitor and printer for that amount. At the same time, desktops are easier to upgrade, which is a good skill for you to learn. At 11, you don’t need a portable computer (laptop), all you really need is just a computer.
The best netbook on the market at present. The 10" form factor is small enough to be portable but big enough to comfortably view and type on. I considered the MSI Wind and ASUS 10" netbooks, but the Samsung seemed worth the higher price for the better keyboard layout and better looks and more solid case. The 6 cell battery makes it weigh a little more than I’d like, but getting 6+ hours out of the battery is worth it.
